False Alarm

We thought this was it... contractions had been going on for several hours and were 5 minutes apart, so we went over to hang out with Mesha & Reggie at their house for awhile to see if something was really going on.  We took a few trips around the park with the family and dogs in tow and just hung out waiting.  Finally after a few hours we decided to go to the hospital, they took her back to triage and we waited while they hooked her up to the monitors and did a series of tests to determine if this was the real deal or not.  They checked her cervix and she was 2cm dialated.  Well she was definitely having regular contractions, but when the nurse asked Shamesha on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being the worse) her pain level and she said it was a 2 the nurse told her that no woman had ever given birth at a level 2 for pain.  So they sent her walking up and down, in and out, back and forth all around the hospital.  While her and Reggie did that, the rest of tried to sleep as best we could, it was beyond midnight at this point.  After about 2 hours of walking they checked her again but there was no change so home when went to await...

Shamesha's Maternity Photo Shoot

My beautiful, beautiful daughter, I am so glad that we are able to capture a few pictures of you carrying your first precious child. You were beyond gorgeous during this entire pregnancy and I hope that you will look back here from time to time and enjoy looking at these photos as much as I do. Love Mom!

38 Weeks

Shamesha was really, really hoping that Dr. Y would do a cervical exam today to check whether her cervix had begun to open (dilate) or soften (efface) in preparation for birth and secretly hoping that this would stimulate her into active labor. NOT!!! He told her he was not going to do any such thing but maybe, just maybe he might do it at next weeks appointment. On a very good note everything is looking PERFECT!

SheffieldOPOLY Baby Shower

Inspired by the classic family board game Monopoly, we created a spectacular and elegantly themed Baby Shower to celebrate the pending birth of Shamesha & Reggie's miracle. A few of the details... the invitation was designed to look like the game cards, the food and dessert signs looked like the monopoly money.  We made gold plated center pieces to replicate the game pieces like the cars, trains and old irons and white & black houses just like the ones in the game only larger.  A top hat chandelier hung from the center of the tent which housed the buffet.  Our color scheme was black & white with an accent of red.  I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed putting all the details together and make sure you view both slideshows in full so that you won't miss any of the fun & beauty of the event.

Now you ought to know that a party created & designed by Smith Events has got to have a dessert bar and this one was no exception... Themed desserts like dice cakes, moneybag cake pops, french macaroons and sugar cookies in the shape of monopoly game cards.

I'm hoping she does, She's hoping she doesn't...

I'm hoping she does make it to her due date and she's hoping she doesn't because she's READY NOW! Today we went in for Shamesha's 37 week checkup, on our way there Shamesha told me that she felt the baby had dropped. She described to me that she feels as if there is a ball between her legs when she walks and even when she's sitting.  OH BOY, that tells me that she's definitely, probably not going to make it to November 10th but that's okay, I just need that little munchkin to stay put for a couple more weeks :) We have a baby shower and maternity pictures to do first.  But in reality, if she goes even 2 more weeks her mama will be TOTALLY surprised.

Here's that 37 week belly shot...

35 Week Check-In

Thirty five weeks... only 5 more TO GO until we get to hold this precious miracle that God is molding together.  If this baby gets any bigger and I think Mesha's belly might P-O-P!
