38 Weeks
Shamesha was really, really hoping that Dr. Y would do a cervical exam today to check whether her cervix had begun to open (dilate) or soften (efface) in preparation for birth and secretly hoping that this would stimulate her into active labor. NOT!!! He told her he was not going to do any such thing but maybe, just maybe he might do it at next weeks appointment. On a very good note everything is looking PERFECT!

I'm hoping she does, She's hoping she doesn't...
I'm hoping she does make it to her due date and she's hoping she doesn't because she's READY NOW! Today we went in for Shamesha's 37 week checkup, on our way there Shamesha told me that she felt the baby had dropped. She described to me that she feels as if there is a ball between her legs when she walks and even when she's sitting. OH BOY, that tells me that she's definitely, probably not going to make it to November 10th but that's okay, I just need that little munchkin to stay put for a couple more weeks :) We have a baby shower and maternity pictures to do first. But in reality, if she goes even 2 more weeks her mama will be TOTALLY surprised.
Here's that 37 week belly shot...
Taking her blood pressure...
Weighing in...
Measuring that BIG BELLY!
The "Sound of Music" listening to that beautiful heart beat.
Dr. Y explaining to us how the baby is positioned right now.

Thirty five weeks... only 5 more TO GO until we get to hold this precious miracle that God is molding together. If this baby gets any bigger and I think Mesha's belly might P-O-P!

FIRST Doctor's Visit
One of the conditions for allowing Malaysia to come home yesterday, was that she would see her own pediatrician today to check her weight, temperature and jaundice level... and so here we are at her very FIRST Doctor's appointment. She passed with flying colors!

31 Week Checkup
WE'VE MADE TO WEEK # 31!!! Everyday that goes by is so precious, knowing that Malaysia has had 24 more hours of nourishment inside your womb getting what she needs to grow and develop into a healthy baby. These pictures are from our visit with Dr. Yosowitz on this past Monday, June 13, 2011. He did a physical measurement and he noted that he can definitely see some external growth (YEAH!) exaxtly what we are looking for. He is such a good sport with my picture taking...
During your 31st week of pregnancy, your baby's body and brain continue to make the connections that enable her systems to work as a whole. Also when you're 31 weeks pregnant:
•Your baby's reproductive system continues to develop. In girls, her clitoris is visible, but her labia are still growing to cover it.
•Your baby's lungs are now more developed but are not completely mature.
•As trillions of brain connections develop, your baby is already using all five senses.
•You might notice that your baby has more defined periods of being awake (and active) or asleep.

29 Week Checkup
WE MADE TO ANOTHER WEEK, CAN YOU FEEL THE EXCITEMENT?
Your baby is now like a butternut squash and should be a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. Her muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and her head is growing bigger to make room for her developing brain. To meet her increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because her bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day.

YOUR PREGNANCY @ 14 WEEKS
Today was your monthly checkup with Dr. Yosowitz aka Dr. Yo or Dr. Y (Which is much easier for Ken to remember and not have to try and pronounce, as if anything could be harder to pronouce than Iwebema. You know I love you Ken!). These three pictures are all shots of us getting to listen to the babies heart beat.
Did I mention already that Dr. Yosowitz is my doctor and that he delivered all my babies and that one by one he has taken care of my girls, becoming their own personal doctor once they turned 18? He and his wonderful office staff love on us soooo much whenever we come in or need anything. We always feel right at home.
Welcome to the blissful second trimester, widely recognized as pregnancy's most comfortable and enjoyable. (Yes, it's a relative distinction.) Don't panic if you start noticing some lovely vaginal discharge (Just trying to keep it real here people.) It's called leucorrhea and is totally normal. It's essential in protecting your birth canal from infection.

YOUR PREGNANCY @ 14 WEEKS
Baby's now the size of a peach ~ about 3.4 inches long and 1.5 ounces in weight. He is forming teeth and vocal cords...savor this, their nonfunctional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with his head now only one third the size of his body. And intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy -- much more convenient.
Dr. Yosowitz handed the little monitor to Ken, and he was staring at it so hard... I didn't realize at first why but it was because he was watching the babies heart beat - the tiny little monitor was showing how fast the heart beat was. Ken was FASCINATED! If you look really close you can see Ken's smile ~ this is one of those very precious moments that tugs on your heart strings.
In theory, your uterus' ability to expand (14 times in size, 20 in weight) is awe-inspiring; in practice, it kind of hurts. When the aches and sharp pains hit your belly, think about this happy news: By now, your risk of miscarriage has gone way, way down.
